Lightning Warning System (LWS)
The Lightning Warning System (LWS) is a pre-strike, severe storm warning system that sounds an alarm prior to the first arrival of the first lightning event. The LWS does this by sensing the electrostatic field that grows as a severe storm moves into the area and grows. Order your LWS solution.
Measuring Storm Severity through Point Discharge
The Point Discharge Sensor functions similarly to the LEC Dissipation Array® Ionizer (which can be used as the sensor for the LWS). When immersed within an electrostatic field the Point Discharge Sensor will create a corona of ions from point discharge. As the electrostatic field increases, the rate of discharge increases exponentially. The LWS measures the ion flow from point discharge to sense the presence of a storm. Raise the elevation of the ionizer to get an earlier warning. Due to environmental variations from location to location, some calibration may be required for the system operate with a maximum effectiveness.
